Room has weird funky smell and feels like it’s from the bathroom. Lobby area looks decent but the minute you get to the hotel room floor, it’s a completely different look..it’s dingy, dirty and old. Doesn’t look good, doesn’t smell good. I was expecting more from a 5 star hotel. And the smell in the room is just awful, thank god I’m only staying here for one night, cause I can’t imagine how I’m going to stay here for more than 1 night.

We stayed at The Dilly for my wife's birthday. A lovely touch was that they upgraded our room to a suite and left a few birthday surprises in the room for us. The Dilly is a charming old-school hotel with attentive staff, a large pool and gym in the basement and an amazing in- house Indian restaurant (Madhu's). I'd agree with some of the reviewers that have said that some of the decor and room fittings are looking a bit tired, but apparently the hotel is due for a £90m refit so this may have changed by the time you read this. We certainly couldn't fault our room, and my wife felt this was the nicest room we have ever staying in, in the UK.

I stayed here with my daughter for the night Saturday 11 January. Don- the receptionist upgraded our room to a twin room with double beds. It was amazing, the largest room we’ve ever stayed in while in London. Don could not have done more to make our visit unforgettable. I can’t believe that we’ve not stayed in this hotel before as we visit London many times a year. I slept like a log, the bed and pillows were so comfortable, I’m never usually able to sleep well in a strange place but I was out like a light! Breakfast was also complementary and was delicious, so many choices. Staff were so friendly and approachable. I honestly cannot fault this hotel and it will now always be our number one choice when we’re in London. Thank you The Dilly, we loved it. Special thanks also to Don.
