A beautiful space to work (and play)! Only a few days in, but already I've been able to get a lot done here.
- Lots of variety in terms of spaces—hot desks, dedicated desks, private offices, lounge space, booths, large tables and little nooks
- Accessible location walking distance from public transit, food, entertainment and commerce.
- Open round the clock for us night owls, but still secure
- A vibe that's neither stuffy nor overly casual
- Very friendly, helpful staff (especially the folks who work insanely hard to keep the place spotless and make sure we have everything we need)
- Considered trimmings—from the plants and decor to the fruit water and beer on tap
Some things I'm hoping to see in the future:
- A developing community vibe (this takes time, obviously)
- A move towards reusable cutlery/cups (will bring my own for now)
- Level up on the tea game (unrealistic expectations, but I'm available to consult!)
Iconic space, Cassidy was the most helpful person. She solved every problem I was having. Can't wait to have back in the space. Cassidy should always be there, that's how good she was.
My experience at this WeWork location has been disappointing, primarily due to the staff's behavior. Despite approaching them politely, they often come across as rude and passive-aggressive, creating an unnecessarily negative atmosphere. It’s disheartening when the only unpleasant interaction in your day happens here—it really makes working from home seem like a far better option.
Simple requests, like turning on the cold brew or kombucha, are met with reluctance, and asking for help feels like an inconvenience to them. A bit of friendliness or even basic pleasantries would go a long way, but unfortunately, it’s lacking here. Honestly, I’ve had more positive interactions with TTC workers.
Pro: Beautiful/Clean/Open and Comfy Space
Cons:
- Sales teams were quite aggressive and clearly only care about their own commissions rather than actually providing great customer cares. Different Sales reps were competing each other very aggressive to get your contract signed.
- Poor after care:
They have accidentally charged us another membership ($300)
When i called, two staff told me completely different answers. They had no idea about my account... Clearly internal communication needs to be improved.
Quite disappointed with such poor customer care. honestly they treated us so nicely until we signed the contracts and after that byeeeeeee
I can only speak to what my experience has been in the space, which was negative.
Biggest problems: noise pollution (there's no drywall anywhere, no carpets or upholstery to absorb noise--people walking on floors above you will sound loud, as will people wheeling office chairs around), lack of community (I'm hard pressed to think of less friendly tenants and building staff), lack of common areas without hot deskers, unfriendly management (instead of talking to my team about noise levels as human beings, building wide announcements were sent informing us people were trying to work in kitchen areas when we would have lunch together). Finding meeting space was always a problem and they took away a meeting room when there was already a shortage to randomly use for "storage space". The only competent front desk people always moved to other WeWork locations. The expense compared to other co-working spaces (Industrious, Workhaus) was ridiculous on a square footage basis. No one attended any events they held either. Coffee was also substandard both drip and machine made, and I'm by no means a coffee snob. They have no idea how to divide the space so that it makes sense for floating members and office members. Expect to be nickel and dimed for meeting room credits too. Unlike other co-working locations their tool doesn't tell you when you're over your limit and will charge you unbeknownst to you, per 30 minutes. For 4 of us, we got less than 10 hours a month total.
The good: The location is very close to Osgoode Station so it's convenient if you're taking the TTC. It's also dog friendly and pretty much all of the dog owners I met in the space are friendly.
Before you commit, make sure you ask for a test day or week (that should be extended free of charge before you commit to anything).
Other co-working companies that have taken over their other leases around the city are much better run, so do your research. I highly recommend Industrious or Workhaus.
